A delegation of the Regional and Country Directors, Head of Tigray’s UNICEF, Nutrition Coordinators along with TDA’s Executive Director Mr. Tesfay G/her and other colleagues has made a high profile visit to the hydroponic project TDA is carrying out at Kallamino Farmers Training Center and beneficiary households at Aynalem with the support of UNICEF to see its productivity and effectiveness.
Very delighted with what they saw and the remarkable explanation given thereof by Mr. Tesfay G/her, TDA’s Executive Director, the delegation recommended to scale up the project to different parts of Tigray, esp. at schools and IDP Centers.
At present, TDA is piloting the hydroponic project at 3 Farmers Training Centers at Kallamino, Endamehoni, Neqsege; 1 school and 20 households at Maichew, and 30 households at Aynalem.
There is nothing more pleasing than to see beneficiary households start harvesting and consuming hydroponic vegetables that apparently improve their nutritional and food security as well as dietary diversity.
Boosting communities’ nutritional security as part of its strategic goals, TDA is now working to expand this life-enhancing project on a larger scale in drought-affected areas of Tigray and beyond to improve livelihood of the communities.
