TDA establishes partial children-friendly spaces/CFSs in six IDP Centers found in Mekelle and Adigrat
TDA, alongside Creative International Associates, has set up partial CFSs in six IDP Centers (namely Lekatit 23 Secondary School, Adiha Secondary School, Mesebo Secondary School and Yekatit 11 Primary School in Mekelle; and Agazi and Medaagame Schools in Adigrat) with the objective to engage the internally displaced children living in the centers to exercising their learning ability, as well as to help them get reliefs from the apparent psychological stresses they are experiencing.
Having provided capacity building trainings for teachers, TDA has created learning opportunities of different levels for children of different ages in the centers. It has established O’ Class for 300 new entrants; Accelerated Learning Program/ALP for 300 children who already learnt grades 1 and 2; and reading camps for 3rd and 4th graders, which can serve 400 boys and girls at a time, with the intention to boost their reading proficiency.
What’s more, TDA also is undertaking similar activities in Agazi and Medaagame IDPs Centers in Adigrat and beyond. Such an intervention also is believed to at least ease the extra burdens of the children’s parent.
We take up this opportunity to urge the international and national humanitarian organizations of similar interest to work in partnership with us, and other stakeholders to also contribute financial, material and technical supports. Thanks!
